Continuing our expose’ of mainstream media omissions we offer the following:
- a recent Kiplinger publication touts Real Estate Investment Trusts (aka “REITS”). But the favorites cited have the lowest rates of return for income investors of almost any available REIT on the market. Our point is: the pubs you read are designed to promote investments so that more small under-informed people support the category by diving in to marginally poor investments. The really sound REITs with much greater yields are saved for the big guys.
- previously we mentioned the Prince Andrew sex trafficking and sexual abuse mess. A settlement was reached (undisclosed–as we predicted it would be) and the Prince was summarily dropped from the front and every other page of the news. Politically–case closed. Then Jean-Luc Brunel, a co-conspirator of Jeffrey Epstein (at the center of the sex trafficking scandal), mysteriously died by “suicide” while in a prison–just like Epstein died–suicide in prison. You’d expect this unlikely coincidence would re-ignite the flame of curiosity among investigative reporters–but do you recall seeing or hearing any further mention of this occurrence? Enough said. Ms. Ghislane Maxwell (another co-conspirator) is currently under house arrest–we bet her life insurance company is a bit concerned.
- the case against Senator Matt Gaetz seems to have stalled. After months of headlines and the acquisition of cooperating witnesses and tons of documentation, we hear nothing. But in my locale a motorist who killed a pedestrian two months ago has been tried, convicted and sentenced. Are we witnessing another example of “crime without punishment”?
- you’re not reading in any mainstream media outlet about the Biden Build-Back-Better bill but obviously a flurry of activity is happening in Washington DC backrooms. Recently Senator Joe Manchin has suggested that he would offer a scaled down version of what he could vote for–including some income benefits to welfare recipients and climate control features. It seems like Joe has realized that whatever influence he has now would be totally erased if the Republican Party regains control of the Senate. So he is finally towing the Democratic Party line within face-saving boundaries. You won’t see this in the news because no Dem wants to go public until it’s a done deal. They don’t want another disaster like the last time the subject was raised.
