We won’t be popular with these comments because mainstream media has made a lot of money highlighting the negative side of the issue. THIS IS NOT AN ARTICLE DEBATING GUN LAWS. We are talking about the factual proof that Americans are fast becoming a nation of gun owners as shown by gun sales and licensing stats. As this trend continues various politicians (to serve their own popularity and gain votes) are lobbying for less restrictive gun laws. In some states open carry is now allowed just as in the old west of the 1870’s. Of course in those days lawlessness was rampant and self-defense was a necessity. But today it’s all about votes. As you might expect all police forces are anti-gun proliferation because it creates more shooting incidents and because it makes their job infinitely more dangerous. Note the increase in shooting incidents, homicide deaths by guns, officer assassinations, armed robberies, etc. over the last few years. The “no knock” warrant was intended to give police the element of surprise when approaching a dangerous situation. But due to its abuses and some isolated deaths that device is being eliminated. Our point: with a huge and growing gun ownership pattern the police are edgy. They are beginning to expect every suspect is armed and dangerous. Wouldn’t you feel the same way given current stats? Our message is summed up by the officer code of behavior ” I’d rather by judged by twelve than carried by six”. Better to shoot first and ask questions later. This is obviously the wrong approach but one that is easily understandable if you’re a cop. If you don’t get the gist–you just aren’t paying attention.
