The ramping up of state election laws and the controversy over Federal legislation to support national elections forces us to address this issue again. Because all “red” states are changing their voting laws in ways that seem to reduce minority and other voter access to polls the US Congress is talking about one uniform set of voter laws and process for all national elections. This Democratic effort will fail, of course, because this legislation requires more votes than the Dems can muster. So we have an alternate suggestion. All “blue” states should change their voting laws to liberalize (pardon the term) voting access. Make it incredibly easy for all registered voters to make their vote count. If necessary, pass laws that give the “blue” states the right to overturn election results on ANY BASIS they choose. If our math is accurate, the same states will vote “blue” and “red” in 2022 (as they did in 2020) and beyond and the GOP will still be in second place. Yes, this is a childish game but fighting fire with fire is the simplest way to meet the challenge. Tsk….tsk…what would the Founding Fathers say????
