People, we are not out of the woods yet. The sun usually rises in the east and sets in the west. There are 7 days in most weeks according the calendar. Every living organism probably needs some form of nourishment to survive. BUT WEARING A MASK TO AVOID CATCHING OR SPREADING A VIRUS DURING A PANDEMIC IS ALWAYS A MATTER OF COMMON SENSE.
Yes, we have multiple effective vaccines but we also need time to get enough folks vaccinated. We also have a number of evolving variants. As we work diligently to vaccinate we cannot advance the virus we’re trying to kill by avoiding safety protocols recommended by medical experts. That would be like going to your family doctor because you have a set of symptoms and then ignoring what he/she says you need to do to resolve your issue. Imagine that kind of behavior on a national scale with the added feature that you could be killing your neighbors and friends by your selfish denial.
When governors re-open too soon they are really saying “I prefer re-starting the state revenue train to keeping my citizens safe; and I don’t care how many suffer and die because I know more than the medical experts. I will decide what’s best for me and you’ll be satisfied with whatever happens.” That’s the kind of attitude that got us to 500,000+ deaths and millions of cases and ICU hospitalizations. Fortunately many Texans and Mississippians are smarter than their elected officials. They know we need to beat the virus as a priority to re-opening–especially when vaccines are coming and another Stimulus relief bill is in the works.
Einstein said: “genius has limitations; but stupidity seems boundless.”
Let’s hope the number of stupid officials is outflanked by the common sense of the masses.
