This week an appeals court struck down the $454 million fine levied against president Trump for misrepresenting the value of his properties to both insurance companies and New York banks. Let’s be clear about this. President Trump defrauded insurance companies by understating the value of his properties to lower his insurance premium rates and he overstated the value of his properties in order to use the equity value difference to secure more loans from primarily New York City banks. This travesty had been carried on for decades and in fact the Trump real estate empire is based on a House of Cards if you think of it in terms of a Ponzi scheme. It’s easy to see that Mr. Trump continued to borrow and deficit finance many properties were that were not profitable and so the only way he could continue the process was to continue to borrow which he did so many times that he had to declare bankruptcy on at least 4 occasions. Not only was he guilty of all of these transgressions including tripling the size of his own personal apartment in New York City but an appeals court found that the fine was exorbitant compared to all the laws that Mister Trump had broken. So the point here to be made is that Mister Trump was clearly guilty is charged and the fines were actually lower than what he should have been charged and as a result justice loses again. Unless this country reinstitutes the rule of law it creates a third world mentality when fair play, honesty, integrity, and even self respect are no longer considered virtues. When that happens this country is no longer America it is no different than any other Banana Republic in any South American or Central American setting.
