By now, you’ve heard all the TV “talking heads” analyze the Epstein file release controversy. We won’t belabor the points that Trump’s menagerie bungled. Bondi said there were files–then she said there weren’t–then she said there weren’t “credible” files–whatever “credible means. Then hundreds of FBI agents were assigned to redact the word/reference to “Trump” wherever it appears. Then Patel and Bongino (FBI Director and Deputy Director) swore to transparency in the Epstein matter. By now Trump finds himself as the centerpiece to the discussion–whether he admits it or not. So–when you’re being stared at by everyone–you do what kids do when they don’t want to eat their broccoli…you point to something and try to change the subject. So, Trump in his immature mentality tries the same tactic. To wit, he says DC homeless must go; crime is terrible in DC and we’re going to institute martial law; I’m going to Alaska to meet Putin; we need to change the Cleveland baseball team back to “Indians” and the Washington football team to “Redskins”; let’s investigate the treasonous former president Obama; let’s investigate Special Prosecutor Jack Smith; let’s investigate New York Prosecutor Letitia James. Do you get the picture? The man is hiding something. Maybe he doesn’t even know what’s actually in the Epstein files but he certainly fears the potential revelation of serious information. Back in the 1970’s President Richard Nixon–the only president forced to resign the presidency–famously said “Americans need to know that their president is not a crook”. Then he resigned shortly thereafter because he faced impeachment. Fast forward to today. Americans should demand to know whether their president is a child sex predator. Despite the MAGA bluster, even the staunchest GOP fanatic would not be able to ignore that charge…not because he may be guilty but because his questionable guilt could cost the GOP the hold it has in Congress and eventually the White House. The Dems should request the Supreme Court to rule on the release of the Epstein files. If they so order we’ll all know. And if they refuse to comply with the release request, we’ll all know that too.
