All the extreme weather that we are experiencing in this country from tornadoes to drought conditions ,to earthquakes to hurricanes and rivers of moisture in some areas reminded us of an expression that never seems to be used anymore. For many years climatologist use the expression “the balance of nature”. The balance of nature is a theory that basically says whenever major events take place on our planet there are consequences from a temporary imbalance. There are many examples of this throughout history. The concern would be that all of these extreme weather events are leading to major destruction and death in all corners of our country. As these events occur it is critical that someone try to evaluate specific causes of those events so that any ’cause we can influence could be adjusted to minimize the resulting effect. While this may sound purely theoretical we assure you that any improvement in the wildfires, the hurricanes, the tornadoes, the wind storms, the floods or any other major catastrophe would be well worth the time spent to evaluate the root cause. The unfortunate situation here is that as we speak the Trump administration is turning its back on environmental issues. This will prove catastrophic and could not be done at a worse time in the country’s history. Global warming is no longer a theory but a recognized fact so it is imperative that we pay more attention to the welfare of our planet as opposed to ignoring the consequences of the changes, especially the changes we are causing ourselves.
