Now that the legal wheels are set in motion in New York City implicating the Mayor and many others of various crimes we ask you to pay close attention to the actual charges. The Mayor, for example, is charged with bribery for accepting $100,000 from Turkish officials in exchange for whitewashing potential fire code violations. While that charge–if proven to be true–is serious, compare it to the admitted unethical/illegal actions of Clarence Thomas. He has been the beneficiary of millions of dollars of Republican mega- donors gifts for several years. He’s admitted it. Not only did he not abide by the disclosure rules self-imposed on and by the US Supreme Court, he professed to prefer taking an RV in a Walmart parking lot to be with the people–just like one of the average citizens. Beyond that, he has not been asked or has he offered to pay income tax on those millions of dollars. So, we ask you: which is the greater crime (1) a Mayor who accepts a $100,000 bribe to overlook some fire code violations, or (2) A US Supreme Court Justice who accepts millions of dollars from partisan (GOP) mega donors and seems to lean their way on opinions? We agree that BOTH crimes should be prosecuted but it’s ironic that the more serious of the two will never be called to task. Wouldn’t it be even more ironic if the Mayor of New York saw his case go to the US Supreme Court and have Thomas rule on it? We’re sure that the GOP would tell Thomas to rule against the Democratic Mayor of New York and that clearly crosses the line in every aspect. Be outraged that our legal system has been so compromised.
