Governor DeWine (pronounced “da-weeny”) is the lead bumbler in Ohio. Under his “leadership” so many GOP crimes have been listed that we wonder whether he’s involved at all. These are the latest missteps:
- The GOP Ohio campaign Treasurer admitted stealing nearly $1 million and was convicted. His penalty was to repay $795,282…meaning he had a net profit for the crimes he was convicted of amounting to $204,718. We guess crime really does pay in Ohio. He also received a stiff sentence for his felony…he was sentenced to 5 years probation by a GOP judge. Yes, that’s a travesty–so much so that the GOP Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose said “I’m disappointed in the sentence compared to the crimes this person committed”. And further he said “The sentence sends a message that you can willfully defraud victims and get away with a relative slap on the wrist”.
- Persons connected to the First Energy bribery scandal continue to be discovered and charged. So far a half dozen have been convicted (including the GOP Speaker of the House, Paul Householder-now serving 20 years) and one defendant has committed suicide. Several company executives are looking at jail time. Question: where was state oversight during this extended period?
- On the local level, a metro bus driver in Cincinnati ran over and killed a 78 year old former school teacher. He had a history of traffic problems including running over a wheelchair bound individual while driving without a license. On conviction he was really nailed. For manslaughter with a vehicle he received 1,000 hours of community service and a 5 year suspension on his drivers license. WOW–THAT’S REALLY FAIR!!!! The family of the school teacher is incensed but, of course, the GOP judges decision is final.
DO YOU GET A FLAVOR FOR THE JUDICIAL SYSTEM AND THE LEADERSHIP OF GOVERNOR DeWINE?
