This week Ron DeSantis suspended his bid for the presidency. He never really had a chance. From every conceivable angle he was doomed. His strategy of not offending Trump while not promoting anything but book burning in Florida turned off just about everybody. In the process he eventually resorted to downing Trump but by then it was far too late. Then he predicted on Sunday (1/21) that he would be in the race until the March 8th primaries; the next day (1/22) he suspended his campaign and endorsed Trump. It is troubling to witness someone with so little substance to be in a position to run for the job of “leader of the free world”. Can you imagine this flip-flopper with his hand on the nuclear button? This episode shows us the shallowness of the political process. The really interesting speculation is: if Trump cannot be the candidate (violating the 14th Amendment or conviction of a felony) will DeSantis re-enter as only one of two GOP candidates (Haley)? The jury is still out on that development.
