A recent article describes how concerned the US Supreme Court is about the use of artificial intelligence, AI. Chief Justice Roberts laments the impact AI will have on the court system. While he may be 100% correct about a future challenge to the judicial process we think he’s lost his sense of priority. There are much bigger issues before SCOTUS right now. The ethics of behavior among many of his fellow justices is a much more current and deplorable feature of the court that sets the rules for the whole country and serves as the court of last resort for ALL of the major questions of the day. When abortion, gun laws, climate change, gay rights, and other more pressing challenges are smacking us in the face along with all the Trump trial motions that will impact the future of our democracy–it is really tough to work up a sweat over artificial intelligence. Could it be that Roberts is just trying the old distraction technique to guide us away from all the screw-ups he’s a part of? Methinks he doth protest too much–to quote a line from Shakespeare. What do you think?
