Have you noticed how many of today’s headlines include a reference to social media? As we said in prior posts “The pen is mightier than the sword”. And now everyone has a sword. So Elon Musk–a clear and present danger as a wealthy individual with no moral compass–re-instates the “X” account of Alex Jones who contends that the Sandy Hook massacre was a hoax. Yes, it would be funny if it weren’t so pathetic. When we add this kind of depravity to the long list of perverted uses of social media and then add the potential of Artificial Intelligence in a pending election cycle–we have the perfect storm. It will be absolutely impossible to distinguish between truth and fantasy as we consider our choices for the 2024 election. We predict that more ad money will be spent on fake ads than on legitimate ads. As the year continues we will hear warnings about this political ad or that ad being bogus. But we won’t know whether the original ad was bogus or its opponents’ retraction was bogus. If you thought news outlets were biased just wait until you try to make sense of the comments in 2024. We admit that all media is biased. That’s one of the main reasons we write this blog–to try to provide “another view”. But even that perspective is conditioned by available information and its validity and reliability. Allowing an idiot like Alex Jones a world-wide memo board for his brand of garbage reflects a total lack of ethics for Elon Musk and a desperation for whatever revenue his posts can produce. Musk sells his ethics like others sell their bodies–and we know what they’re called. Please be careful when reading anything about anyone any time. And always consider the source. Beyond that–it’s gonna be wild.
