Ad dollars on major networks were bulging this year thanks to all the campaigning. To combat the huge loss in ad money the sport s world is collaborating with the networks to keep their coffers full. Suddenly and without any real explanation it has become necessary to expand the college football playoffs from the current 4 teams to 12. In case you didn’t know, TV’s highest 5 rated programs every week this time of the year are all football. Then we heard an announcement that that the World Cup will expand to 48 teams next time around. As the popularity of soccer rages on this move is sure to generate more cash flow. PREDICTION: Watch for the Major League Baseball World Series to be changed from the best 4 out of 7 games to the best 5 out of 9 games. This will add cash to the pockets of all concerned and possibly resurrect some of the waning interest in baseball. FYI, in the “old days” the World Series was a best 5 out of 9 games.
