These elections will be ugly. There will be intimidation, lying, cheating, lawsuits, threats, recounts and possibly violence. We will behave like children over the results. The rest of the world will witness a power grab like never before. Our allies will shudder to think that the champion of the free world could evidence such greed and lack of ethical conduct. Whoever wins it will show a side of America we will surely be ashamed of. Both the Dems and the Republicans are cautiously optimistic about their chances to control Congress. Just keep in mind that–as a factual matter–the GOP opposes abortion, climate change regs, gun control, veterans benefits, student loan forgiveness, LGBTQ rights and just about anything else proposed by the Dems. They have taken to minority view of every position relative to the most recent polling. The question is: will a large number of voters turn out? After all the voting law “adjustments” sponsored by the GOP and the re-districting sponsored by the GOP it’s obvious that Republicans don’t think they can win on the issues so they must “game the system”. It is our hope that enough reasonable people see through the false narrative that the GOP makes “give us the power and then we’ll tell you our plans are”. Isn’t that backwards? Shouldn’t they tell us what they would do first so we can make an informed decision on who gets our vote? Oh, for the good old days of campaign promises!! At least then we had some idea where a candidate stood on the important issues of the day before we voted..
