You may have heard about the SW Airlines pilot who–after locking himself in the cockpit (no pun intended) with a female pilot– stripped down to his birthday suit and supposedly forced the female co-pilot to watch a porn flick. After all the juicy details became known it was revealed (again, no pun intended) that the male pilot had sexual issues with other employees in the past. Our question: why would SW Airlines allow a questionable employee fly hundreds of customers anywhere until those issues were resolved? Is the pilot shortage such that bad behavior is overlooked? Or did the company fail to check out past abusive activities? What other kids of behaviors are being overlooked? We think it important that airlines affirm the safety of their pilots and the screening they must accept before being allowed to risk your life.
