History shows that the party in the White House usually loses seats in mid-term elections. We think that stems from the fact that anger and dissatisfaction are stronger emotions than contentment so angry voters show up and cast their votes while the contented voters see no reason to vote for a change. In 2022 this election cycle is far more important than ever before. Those “in-the-know” believe that the GOP will take back the House and run Congress for the next few years–certainly until the Biden presidency has ended. Considering the veto power of the president and the animosity over the previous presidential election and all that has followed, we think it safe to say that a Republican-controlled Congress in 2023 and 2024 will GUARANTEE that absolutely no progress will be made on todays critical issues. AMERICA SIMPLY CANNOT AFFORD A “GONE FISHIN'” SIGN ON WASHINGTON”. It is our opinion that the GOP power grab is not a certainty. Consider: Biden won just a year ago with an 8 million vote majority; the GOP is threatening Roe v. Wade–a very unpopular move; the January 6th event and the fallout with hypocritical statements from Mitch and McCarthy and other GOP’ers have turned sentiment for some undecided voters; the Build Back Better bill designed to provide for low incomers is opposed by the GOP (and of course, Joe Manchin- the GOP member in Democratic clothing); and the general obstructionist attitude delaying or denying much progress despite President Biden’s efforts. When we add the developing conflict within the GOP between the pro-Trumpers and everyone else, we see a divided party that will force its politicos and voters to choose between a Trump-endorsed candidate and one who ignores the Trump aura. So, take heart Democrats…all is not lost. Our guess (and that’s all it is) is that the largest number of voters in the mid-terms are currently in the “undecided” column right now. It remains to be seen how they will swing when considering the value of their perspective. Ask yourself “who can I rely on to do what’s best for my country and me?”
