Governor Andrew Cuomo is under siege. Apparently a number of former female associates have just remembered how awful he treated them—going back over 25+ years. Their terrible agony and humiliation must have so drastically damaged their lives that they repressed the memory of all that unwanted attention for almost an entire lifetime. How convenient to recall those ugly events just as Governor Cuomo begins to gain prominence in the Democratic Party national spotlight. And now a slew of former staff members just realized that they too were wronged by his brutish behavior. Again, I emphasize “former” associates. Disclaimer: I AM NOT SAYING THAT VALID CLAIMS LIKE THESE ARE TO BE DISCOUNTED OR IGNORED. I am saying that anyone who has serious claims to bring forth had ample time to do so over the last 20 to 25 years. Why did they not? Why now? If valid and provable, Cuomo should pay the price. But, if this becomes a “he said-she said” debate, someone needs to examine the motivation for the obvious attempt at character assassination. Such tactics are well within reach of political foes–and much more prevalent if the foe is especially feared as a potential vote-getter. As Cuomo says, let’s do the special investigation and follow the evidence. If guilty, he pays. But if not, someone else should pay.
