The Los Angeles fire situation is devastating. It has destroyed much of the beautiful landscape that millions have envied for years. Structures are burning and lives are lost and through it all the Republicans have found fault. While most human beings would sympathize with the desperate and homeless victims, the GOP Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, Trump and Ohio GOP rep. Warren Davidson, are threatening to delay aid until better land management practices are adopted. When a person is drowning, do you criticize him for not maintaining his boat adequately? And how do you blame California government for a nine month drought that caused ground cover to explode in fire? Every American should be outraged at the insensitivity of the GOP. It’s a “red state” and therefore, it’s expendable. But there are Republicans in the state also. And how does this reluctance to help mesh with accusations that Biden’s FEMA didn’t help North Carolinians when the hurricane hit? Biden didn’t say “don’t help–they have a GOP majority in their Assembly” Please tell your representative to move forward to help those souls who have lost everything and are forced to hunt for food and shelter every day. You don’t need to be religious–you just have to be human to feel their pain.
