As we stand on the eve of what could be a major twist in our democracy it becomes more obvious that every registered voter needs to exercise their constitutional privilege to vote. We, at “anothersview.com” strongly support the Harris-Walz team and we know all the polls are saying it’s a very close race. Our prediction yesterday disputes that opinion for reasons we provided in that blog posting. What is or should be of special interest is the number of prominent Republicans who have publicly denounced Trump and said they will vote Democratic for the first time. Those of us old enough to remember know that Dick Cheney is the dyed-in-the-wool Republican who was VP under Bush. He is very adamant that Trump lose the election. When you consider the fact that Dick and Liz Cheney live in one of the reddest states in the union and certainly all their friends and neighbors are probably voting for Trump–it is especially gratifying and somewhat frightening that such a staunch Republican is willing to “man up” and speak truth to power. His courage and that of his daughter Liz is not to be ignored. Even Jenna Bush, George Bush’s daughter, has gone public with her endorsement of Harris. It is disappointing that George hasn’t the guts to stand by his principles and show true patriotism. The old biblical phrase “he who is not with me is against me” was never more accurate in describing a former president of the United States who is afraid to say what even his daughter knows to be true–Trump is unqualified. In addition, several hundred other Trump administration officials have denounced Trump and are voting Harris. These are the people who saw firsthand what Trump is and they can accurately predict how he would act as president.
- Beyond the hundreds of GOP members who are anti-Trump, you, the average citizen, saw and heard what Trump has said and done over the past four years. Despite the legal wrangling–you know he’s guilty of criminal acts and should have been impeached both times. We are amazed that any reasonable voter even considers voting for a felon who has watched the US Capitol sacked by a riotous mob for over 3 hours. How does anyone excuse such behavior–much less consider the individual as a possible President?
- We believe Harris will win and we hope the Democratic tsunami carries down ballot. We think the threat of a national abortion ban will turn the tide.
- Remember that Trump is set to be sentenced on November 26th for the 34 felony convictions. It is possible that–win or lose–he could see jail time. His crimes allow for at least a year of incarceration. Imagine the US image with our foreign allies if an elected president is jailed. Or, imagine our foreign allies reaction that a 34 felony conviction does not include jail time when every other individual convicted of similar crimes would go to jail. Either way, it paints an ugly scene.
REMEMBER THESE THOUGHTS AS YOU ENTER THE VOTING BOOTH.
