You’ve read how many midterm candidates endorsed by the former president lost. The body count is too much to bear for the Republican National Committee. But more than that it sends a message to all future GOP candidates: “Don’t think a Trump endorsement will help”. For many prospective future candidates this leaves them in a quandary. How do they decide where the loyalty of their constituents GOP voter base lies? Will they gain or lose with Trump? Add to that the constantly evolving legal problems Trump faces and it seems obvious that the smart money says “leave Trump out of the equation”. Then you have the DeSantis and others element breathing down the “Donald’s” back. The GOP already has a platform problem. They have taken the minority position on every key issue facing America. Each candidate will need to decide their stance on abortion, gun laws, climate change, veterans benefits, student loan forgiveness, etc. As of today, it is accurate to say that the Republican National Committee has no stated position on addressing and no plan of action to solve these problems. The next presidential election is fast approaching; the GOP needs quick and fancy footwork to make the contest a fair fight.
