As T-rump continues his charade as president you’re going to hear the term “demagogue” many times. So–to head of any confusion–we will describe what a “demagogue” is. These are the signs we lifted from the Wikipedia:
- SCAPE GOATING– he blames everyone else for his own failures and mistakes.
- FEAR MONGERING–he threatens his enemies with criminal charges, name-calling, etc.
- ACCUSATIONS OF WEAKNESS & DISLOYALTY–he fires anyone who refuses personal allegiance
- PROMISES THE IMPOSSIBLE–like ending the Ukraine war on Day 1 or reducing inflation
- INTIMIDATION–he verbally assaults anyone who even suggests opposition
- PERSONAL INSULTS & RIDICULE–Name-calling, laughing at questions during interviews
- BEHAVING OUTRAGEOUSLY–selling his political power, ignoring the rule of law
- FOLKSY POSTURING–pretending to be just “a good ol’e boy” to his constituents
- GROSS OVERSIMPLIFICATION–avoiding tough questions with non-sensical answers
- ATTACK ON THE MEDIA–threatening to cancel FCC licenses and de-funding PBS, NPR
- HIRING LACKEYS–using unqualified sheep to carry out his dictatorial demands
Do you see anyone in this description? Of course you do. We hope that enough people are willing to open their eyes and see what you see. Until then we live under a dark cloud–at least it’s not a nuclear cloud–not yet.
