By now we’ve all seen and heard about the vicious attack on Mr. Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s spouse. The first reaction (if any was expressed) by Fox News and prominent GOP members was either to downplay or even to mock the security system in the Pelosi San Francisco home. Their comments were insensitive and totally inappropriate–to say the least. And–upon realizing that those rash comments might cost them votes–were quick to avoid the subject or to apologize quietly. Please note: they were sorry about their remarks NOT because they were wrong but ONLY because they revealed themselves and feared the loss of votes–especially when some voters might tie those comments to the January 6th US Capitol riot that one GOP senator called “a typical tourist visit”. Now contrast the Pelosi comments with the pro-life stance of the GOP. An 82 year old man is attacked in his home by a nut job and nearly killed. This was viewed as either a “non-event” and ignored, downplayed as a “minor incident” or laughed at as a failure to have an adequate security system. Question: can you reconcile the GOP attitude on the Pelosi attack with a pro-life stance? Do you consider the presence of hypocrisy here? If you don’t see a dis-connect then maybe you should not follow this blog any further. Your mind is closed if you see ANY room for these two positions to be compatible.
