The following will describe how pathetic the leadership in Ohio has become. And, unfortunately, local media gives credibility to such shenanigans. The state is controlled by Republicans who have faced bribery charges, liberalized gun laws and their consequences, a weak Governor who follows the Trump line always and now attempts—with media help–to gaslight its voters by supporting incompetent candidates.

Two columns appeared in the January 29, 2026 Cincinnati Enquirer that should never have seen the light of day. The first article “DeWine: Protesters don’t need guns” is a shameful rebuke to both gun enthusiasts and patriotic demonstrators. Governor DeWine says about demonstrations “And I think you could do that (demonstrate) without a gun, but again, they have the right to have a gun”. So, what are you saying Governor? Are you saying that demonstrators cannot exercise their rights to carry a gun under Ohio law? That violates their legal entitlements. Or are you saying that Ohio gun laws allow you to do what you should not do? Or are you simply trying to appease those who justify shooting a man nine times while he lies in the gutter  without offending the gun lobby? They call that strategy a “straddle”. You feel strongly both ways and implicitly take no position (and make no sense) whatsoever. We wonder why the Governor didn’t come forward on January 6, 2021 when thousands of armed rioters stormed the US Capitol and assaulted its police. Where were you then?

The second article was entitled “Leftists foment fear among citizens, legal immigrants” by Keith Faber. Mr. Faber, who wants to be the next Ohio Attorney General, opens with the statement “You have no reason to fear if you are in the United States legally. Let me repeat that plainly—you have no reason to fear if you are in the United States legally.” Try telling that to the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Two American citizens, exercising their legally protected rights are dead, one shot 3 times (the second/third shot reportedly killed her after she was beyond the man who shot her) and a VA ICU nurse who was shot nine times after he was disarmed (never brandished the weapon) while lying in a gutter. Is that the meaning of Mr. Faber’s opening line? Tell me and every other fair minded person how anyone can justify shooting an unarmed man nine times as he lays on the ground in front of millions of viewers and not feel a sense of shame and indignation. Tell me that it is right for the agents of ICE/Border Patrol to yank American citizens out of their homes and autos with no justification. Then tell me how this compares to 1930’s Germany and the Nazi regime. If you can conclude that what is happening in Minneapolis is OK then the people of Ohio will clearly understand what kind of values you have and how much/little you value human life. But don’t hide behind the Washington smoke screen and pretend that just because they spout propaganda it’s ok for you to gaslight the same baloney. Mr. Faber, do you still stand behind your opening line? If you do it’s because you have so little regard for the intelligence of your voter base or you want to play to their prideful attitude that won’t allow them to admit they were wrong. Either way, you’re a poor example of the rule of law and a pathetic candidate for Ohio Attorney General.
