How is Trump’s bombing of Iran or his attacks on Venezuelan boats different from Putin’s attack on Ukraine, Poland and Romania? First, it must be said that Trump’s attack on Iran and Venezuela are clearly acts of war and Trump has no authority to declare war under the Constitution. Only Congress has that authority. Second, there has been no evidence or proof of any kind that Iran and Venezuela were doing what Trump claims they were doing. In fact, our Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, was saying that there was no evidence that Iran was building a nuclear weapon at the same time as Trump was bombing Iran because THEY WERE BUILDING A NUCLEAR WEAPON. He said later that she was wrong but no details/evidence/proof was presented. As to the Venezuelan boat attacks, no evidence of any kind has been provided. In fact, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that, even though one of the boats was headed AWAY FROM THE US, the attack was justified to teach drug smugglers that we mean business. Trump even joked about people should be careful where they fish. So, if we understand Rubio, even if the boat was no threat to the US and even if we can’t offer any proof that they were drug smugglers, we are justified in killing them to send a message. Does that pass the smell test? Using that logic the US could attack any country that has any activity that might eventually impact the US. Sorry, that won’t fly and Rubio knows it.

Remember, Iran has over 500,000 Iranian nationals living in the US and Venezuela is ruled by a vicious dictator, Maduro. Either source could wreak havoc with terrorist activities here.

And, for history buffs, this gradual process of attacking other countries is exactly what happened in 1939 when Hitler attacked Poland. We watched that attack plan spread to all of Europe. Where will the Trump/Putin march end?
