The president is trying to remove Lisa Cook from the Federal Open Market Committee because he says she applied for a mortgage with fraudulent information. Well…where have you heard that before? Didn’t the courts convict one Donald Trump for multiple fraudulent mortgage applications where he mis-stated the value of his collateral for loans and then lied to insurance companies to reduce his casualty premiums? Wasn’t he fined $434 million for repeated offenses? How did that turn out? Recently, on appeal, the court set aside the $434 million fine as being too excessive–but they didn’t reduce it–they ELIMINATED IT. And now–to gain more leverage on the Fed Open Market Committee, Trump is charging Lisa Cook with a laughable single charge that documented evidence refutes. Is there no limit to this man’s audacity? He’s violated mortgage rules hundreds of times for decades and he has the nerve to charge Lisa Cook with a single unsubstantiated crime. What’s next for Ms. Cook? We hope exoneration but, knowing Trump, he’s already gained control of the judge and will be successful in removing her. She may be lucky to avoid the death penalty.
