In Florida recently a black man was stopped for an apparent traffic violation. Video cams from the arresting officers who stopped the man show a police deputy punching through the window of his car and hitting the man in the face while asking questions. The man asked what he had done wrong and ask to see and speak to a supervisor he was summarily remove from the car placed on the ground and handcuffed by the arresting deputies. The court recently found like this treatment of another human being was justified. The police officers involved indicated that they had asked the black man to step out of the car several times and when he didn’t they found justification of breaking his window and punching him and then dragging him out and placing him face down on the ground while he asked “what am I doing wrong, what did I do wrong?”. A Florida court found that the officers were clearly within their rights to do what they did. We are asking you to be the judge in this case. Second guess what a Florida court in a red state did with no evidence that the black man involved had committed any crime and was the victim of excessive force. When you cannot find a basis for dismissing these charges then ask yourself ” where is this country headed?” This is just a single issue but it is an indicator not only to American people but also to American police that they are free to engage in whatever activity they feel is is necessary without any restraint. It appears that the Minneapolis situation George Floyd) did not make any impression on the police force or the justice system. Where will this country take that attitude is Trump invokes martial law and snatches innocent people off the streets without due process and sends them to third world country prisons? Is this the kind of country you think you want to live in? If not, write your Congress person and remember what has happened under the Trump regime. Use your voice at the ballot box to say “no I don’t support this kind of behavior”.
