Since much has been said about this we’re summarizing our observations in bullet points:
- Trump attacked a country with no direct provocation of violence against the US. This is–in any logical person’s book–an act of war. Just as the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in 1941 we attacked Iran in 2025. Where was the authority of Congress as required by the Constitution? For those of you keeping tabs this is just another violation of the US Constitution–our rule of law for nearly 250 years. His other violations include failure to provide due process, suggestion for a third term, revocation of birthright citizenship, the establishment of world-wide tariffs, and defiance of court orders (the Supreme Court no less).
- What information did Trump have to justify the bombing but not to justify his sharing of that info with his Director of National Intelligence? Do we have as Cool Hand Luke said “a failure to communicate”? Two days before the bombing Tulsi Gabbard said that they have no evidence that Iran is building a nuclear weapon. Publicly Trump said she was wrong but didn’t share whatever he knew…was there really anything to share–we still don’t know. Does Ms. Gabbard know she’s not considered trustworthy in the eyes of her boss–that’s why he allowed her to make a fool of herself?
- The results of the bombing are inconclusive at this point. Regardless of what Trump says–he lies a lot–there is no assessment of the damages. He is also ignoring the convoy of trucks seen leaving the nuclear processing sites prior to the bombing. He’s sure those trucks weren’t carrying away enriched uranium. WE don’t know how he knows that. Maybe he’ll try to tell us the trucks were just a desert mirage and not to worry about it.
- We have kicked the hornet’s nest. As of 2023, there were nearly 500,000 Iranian nationality residents in the US. If we add sympathizers to their ranks we could have as many as a million residents in this country who see the unprovoked attack on their home country as an act of war. Think about it…on 9/11/2001 we experienced the most devastating attack on American soil ever. Nearly 3,000 American citizens died that day and shortly thereafter. But those terrorists had to find a way into the country before they could act. This Iranian element is already here. And they are–in all probability–armed. ICE is arresting a few Iranians out of fear or reprisal but those aren’t even the proverbial drop in the bucket. Add to that scary thought, our national defense system, Homeland Security and National Intelligence is staffed with losers who have no qualifications or experience in their jobs. You could call this a perfect storm and we are squarely in the target zone.
- The last observation is the simplest: WHAT DID ANYONE GAIN WITH THE BOMBING? Biden had in place an agreement with Iran that included NATO inspections. And Trump threw it into the trash. Wouldn’t any solution short of killing people been worth a try? Trump’s casual “I might attack or I might not” attitude is cavalier and may have long lasting, fatal and catastrophic consequences. He’d say “well it is what it is”. Is that good enough for you?
