Recently we observed (quietly) the anniversary of a very important speech by Abraham Lincoln. He was running for a Senate seat at the time and addressing the issue of slavery. FYI, we have provided the essence of his words that day:

A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND.

I BELIEVE THIS GOVERNMENT CANNOT ENDURE PERMANENTLY HALF SLAVE AND HALF FREE.

I DO NOT EXPECT THE UNION TO BE DISSOLVED–I DO NOT EXPECT THE HOUSE TO FALL–BUT I DO EXPECT IT WILL CEASE TO BE DIVIDED.

IT WILL BECOME ALL ONE THING, OR ALL THE OTHER.

Picture today’s government’s actions. Could we be more divided? Democracy starts to fade when common ground and compromise are shelved for selfishness and winner take all attitudes. Do you agree with “another’s view” that we are clearly headed in the wrong direction and accelerating that pace? Make your voice heard. Remember, evil wins when good people do nothing.
