Before the season started, “another’s view” stated that the Dodger dynasty would rule the diamond for this season and many to come. We blamed the Major League Baseball Commissioner, Rob Manfred, for a lack of guts. Among other responsibilities, it’s his job to maintain a level playing field (pun intended) so that games are contested by reasonably equally talented teams. But now, thanks to a multi-billion dollar Fox broadcast contract for several years, the Dodgers have bought the services of the best pitching staff (multiple Cy Young Award winners) and the best position players available. Early in the season the San Diego Padres and the San Francisco Giants put up a good fight but as the season has worn on the Dodgers are pulling away. This development–despite injuries to key players–was easily predictable. We have a wager with a prominent sports writer that the Dodgers will win it all again this year and the Vegas bookies agree with us. We invite you to check in periodically to watch the runaway in the National League West Division. Rob Manfred–are you watching?
