Our president is a racist–pure and simple. His history of seeing “good people on both sides” at the Charlottesville, Virginia riot is the visible proof of his deep-rooted attitude. Since that day and as we proceed into his second term it is increasingly apparent that African-Americans are personna non grata in his view of American society. His DEI moves offend anyone who believes that minorities have been treated as second/third class citizens for many years. Despite the Emancipation Proclamation, the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and host of other well-intentioned regulations Mr. Trump continues to abuse the rights of anyone who he considers “non-white”. The recent illegal deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia and Trump’s defiance of the US Supreme Court ruling (9 to 0) has led to nothing despite the Constitutional violation of “due process”. He’s now attacking the universities like Harvard for their unwillingness to cease their DEI initiatives. Withholding Federal funds that were built into the Harvard budget for decades is his weapon of choice. And to further confuse the matter, Trump is calling for the restriction of Federal funds from public school systems. Imagine the elimination of DEI in K through 12 grades in inner cities where 80% of the students are minorities. Recently the Trump Department of (in) Justice was told to drop all the activity surrounding the Breanna Taylor and George Floyd investigations. What message does all that send? Can anyone deny his racism? When we combine the racist views in the White House with the defense and support of the white supremacist rioters from the January 6th event, we have a recipe for violence that simmers as an undercurrent to all future anti-minority moves. Where will this end?
