He’s at it again. Trump is still a few weeks away from taking control (God help us!!!) and he’s already alienating several allies and important trading partners. Aside from the ridiculous notion of slapping a huge tariff on all imports from China, Canada and Mexico, he is actually talking about colonizing Canada, Greenland, Panama, and Mexico. You may recall from our last post that China, Canada and Mexico represent collectively nearly 50% of all American imports. A tariff on those imports would clearly skyrocket inflation in the US and retaliatory tariffs for our manufactured goods abroad would certainly reduce US company sales in those countries. Apart from the stupidity quotient of these missteps we’ve noticed how the USA Today newspaper has begun to suggest that the colonization of Canada and Mexico might be a good thing. They tout that there is historical precedence for such moves. Never mind that neither country wants our invasion…that’s just their negotiation style. And Denmark has said that Greenland is “not-for-sale”. So–what is all this talk really about? We think we know…Elon Musk–the richest man in the world–has built most of his profits on the success of the TESLA electric vehicle product. And his chief and most dangerous competitor is Rivian Motors–a Chinese company. They build durable and stylish vehicles at a fraction of the TESLA manufacturing costs. Last year Tesla lost 6% of its previous years sales volume–primarily to Rivian. So does this make the picture clearer for you? Do you begin to see why Musk rides on Trump’s hip constantly…do you see why a 60% tariff on Chinese imports is important to Elon Musk? Could all this other Greenland, Mexico and Canada talk be just a typical “red herring” to distract from the real issue here? Remember, the Federal Government has billion dollar contracts with Musk so both Trump and Musk have something “in the kitty” to bargain with. As usual Trump tries to hide his real intent in an effort to negotiate ties to Musk that they think will be mutually beneficial. An interesting observation: obviously labor costs are the majority of manufacturing costs for Musk/Tesla. Last year Musk attempted to have the Supreme Court (the corrupt court) declare the National Labor Relations Board “unconstitutional”. The NLRB oversees labor relations. If that had happened Musk would have had an easier path to avoiding unions and/or wage increase demands by his carmaker assembly line workers. The big picture says “it all ties together”. Trump is mucho devious by design but, with the Musk money backing, he becomes a threat to our very existence as a democracy and a dangerously disruptive force among our allies. All this foreign intrigue benefits Putin, Orban, Maduro and UN. Watch and learn how the new administration re-shapes your world.
