For all the “undecideds” about choosing the next president/vice president we have a simple test to help you. There are several indisputable facts you will need to ignore when evaluating one of the candidates. Vice-president Harris is upfront with her positive view of America and its potential. Donald Trump is consistently negative about his plans. But some of Trump’s actions and words are documented and will require no interpretation or comments. A vote for Trump means the following….
- You’re OK with Trump standing by for 187 minutes while the rioters stormed the US Capitol, attacked the Capitol police, damaged the building, and shouted “Hang Mike Pence”–then the Vice-president.
- You agree that the rioters who were convicted of assaulting and injuring 140 police officers are really “hostages” and do not deserve to be jailed for their actions.
- You see nothing wrong with Trump stealing and hiding 300 boxes of classified documents. After denying he had them, then saying he had the right to have them (he didn’t), moving them to avoid discovery, falsely informing his lawyers twice that he had surrendered all of the docs and facing an FBI Search Warrant, he still has not admitted (1) what he intended to do with the docs; (2) whether he had any more docs and had moved them away from Mar-A-Lago; (3) why he took these specific docs; (4) whether he copied any of the material before they were retrieved; and (5) whether he distributed any copies to any foreign agent/country.
- You do not believe that Trump tried to obstruct the election by calling Brian Kemp, the Governor of Georgia, and begging for 11,000 more votes with threats and intimidation.
- You’re OK with his “hush money” trial conviction where his adulterous affairs were revealed.
- You’re OK with his lack of gun control laws as he (and the rest of the GOP) continues to accept 100% of the National Rifle Association’s campaign contributions. You’re OK that this paves the way for more mass shootings in schools, supermarkets, concert venues, etc.
- You don’t believe that Trump’s disregard for climate change is or will be a serious issue. (Trump wants out of the Paris Climate Accord.)
- You don’t see a problem voting for a man who has been convicted of 34 felonies. (The evidence was so compelling that a Summary Judgement was granted and his attorneys didn’t even bother to appeal the verdict. FYI, Trump would not qualify to pick up trash in New York City because of his felony convictions but he can run for president of the US and leader of the free world.)
- You’re OK with destroying immigrant families when one of the parents is an illegal–even if they have been a productive tax-paying member of society for many years. Trump wants to deport those individuals instead of trying to recognize their value and commitment to America.
- You like the idea that Trump believes the word of Putin (and Kim Jong Un and Viktor Orban) over the investigative reports of the global intelligence community about Russian election interference in 2016. (By the way, RUSSIAN INTERFERENCE WAS PROVEN.)
- You agree with Trump that we should abandon Israel and Ukraine and pull out of NATO.
Anyone who votes for Trump must accept/overlook all these facts. Some “Trumpers” suggest that people just don’t like his “style” but the facts we list are not “style” issues. THEY ARE CLEAR FACTS THAT WE ALL KNOW TO BE TRUE. We didn’t mention his personal traits like name-calling, threats, womanizing (convicted as a sex abuser), racist attitude (he favors white supremacists), lack of intelligence, carnival-like sales image (trying to sell Bibles, sneakers, trading cards, pieces of his suits, etc.). The MAGA nutjobs have no choice but to accept the flawed individual who heads their Party but you know better–you have a choice. So, in the spirit of the old phrase “reasonable people equally informed seldom differ” we think you’ll make the right choice. You now KNOW what Trump has said and done. And you KNOW what he threatens to do if elected. And you KNOW that will destroy the democracy we’ve built and nurtured for nearly 250 years. Please think about these facts as you decide…and REMEMBER IN NOVEMBER!!!
