(1) THE BLINKEN IMPEACHMENT: The GOP wants to impeach Antony Blinken for the way in which the withdrawal from Afghanistan was handled. First, this is not an impeachable offense. (2) Secretary of Defense LLoyd Austin was in charge. (3) this impeachment charge obscures the greater good that Biden ended our involvement in Afghanistan. (4) It also hides the fact that Trump did nothing during his term to resolve the situation. (5) The GOP–in their criticism–did not offer a better way to leave the country. They just didn’t like the way it was handled…seems like a difference of opinion to us. When compared to the two Trump Impeachments and the grounds for those actions, the Blinken affair is a joke.
(2) SCORE: GOP JUDGE 1- INDEBTED STUDENTS O: At the request of six GOP State Attorneys General a GOP appointed judge suspended the most recent attempt by President Biden to relieve the student loan indebtedness for millions of current and former students. Again, this is just another effort to tick off large voter groups. Biden is accused of trying to gain votes but the facts show he initiated this plan during his second full month in office. And, forgiving this debt would free up billions of dollars of purchasing power that would grow the economy and create many more jobs. THAT IS THE REAL GOP FEAR. Would you rather have these young people burdened by this student debt or see the economy grow? The government sees this as a real opportunity to help the struggling younger generation but the GOP section of that generation probably doesn’t need loan forgiveness.
(3) TRUMP–AN ENEMY OF UNIONS: During Trump’s term of office he attempted to have his DOJ declare the National Labor Relations Board to be “unconstitutional”. The NLRB is the mediator of every major management-labor issue in the US. Without the NLRB all labor clout would dissolve and strikes would be illegal. Also you’ve heard Trump praise Elon Musk (a kindred loser) for his treatment of contract employees who Musk terminated without the contractual compensation he agreed to. And finally, Vance was booed recently when he tried to tell a union group that he and Trump were “pro-labor”. No one believes that and no union member should vote Republican.
(4) JOB REFERENCES: Trump is applying to the voters for a job. He wants to be president. And, in every job vetting process, the employer asks about the applicant’s job history. In this case, his lack of accomplishments from his term of office is legendary. But, beyond that, the number of former employees who have risked their livelihoods and maybe their lives with damning statements about Trump is–to use an overused term–“unprecedented”. Almost all the White House staff and almost all of the Cabinet members in the Trump era have denounced him. Almost all say they’ll vote for Harris. When you consider what these people are risking that public declaration is formidable. They know Trump and they don’t want him to be president ever again.
(5) LONGSHOREMEN STRIKE AVERTED: We all worried that the International Longshoremen’s Association might strike and thereby cause all kinds of supply and cost problems for the country on the verge of the holiday shopping season. Well, it did not happen. Yes, it’s a temporary aversion but the Biden Administration did what was needed to protect us without hardly any media gratitude. Did you see any big splash about the resolution? We think not–but you certainly heard about the threat. The GOP-owned media doesn’t want any credit afforded the Biden team just before the election. And so it was played down. If you read the above comment (#3), ask yourself how Trump would have handled the potential mess?
