It isn’t enough that the GOP steadfastly ignores the possibility of climate change. And now we have two hurricanes (Helene and Milton) that meteorologists say were intensified by the warmer than average waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Now as Milton threatens Florida, the GOP is spreading word that FEMA (and, of the Biden Administration) is ignoring the plight of victims who have suffered in Florida and North Carolina. They lie to Fox News which gladly carries the message. And viewers–for some reason–continue to believe Fox even after Fox lost millions of dollars with their lies in 2021 about the 2020 election. Fox needs revenue, They get it with high ratings. If they start telling the truth they fear losing a major portion of their gullible viewers. So they support the lie and misinform all of us. FEMA funds are being deployed as are human resources, equipment and food, water and other essentials. These people are risking their lives to help their fellow human beings. But that humane effort is hidden by Fox News because Trump doesn’t want it known that the Biden Administration is doing everything it can to assist. It’s ironic when you consider how Trump reacted as president when California was experiencing ravaging wildfires. He blamed California state officials for their forestry practices and for a time was reluctant to provide FEMA aid. He released that aid when he was told that a number of mega GOP donors owned land in the area that could be affected by the fires. The man is a menace and should be gagged. And Fox News should have learned from its $787.5 million Dominion lawsuit settlement that “honesty is the best policy”. Our conclusion: winning the election by lying about your opponent is the priority regardless of how many lives you diminish or eliminate. We think Trump sees victims as just collateral damage as he seeks re-election. Hopefully, enough intelligent voters won’t support that viewpoint.
