On April 29th we climbed out on a limb and correctly predicted that Trump would be convicted in the “Hush-Money” case. We were surprised that he now faces sentencing on all 34 felony charges; but the evidence was overwhelming. The next step: sentencing. As you read this posting, keep in mind that Hunter Biden now faces up to 25 years in prison for checking the wrong box on a form. Trump has no remorse for his deeds. He has railed against everyone associated with the trial. Death threats have been levied at the judge and his family. That said, there are two types of punishment available to Judge Marchan. He can exact a fine and/or he can incarcerate. Both fines and jailing are intended to correct the behavior of the convicted felon. PREDICTION: Trump will receive a combination of both penalties. To negate the “gains” from his rantings about the trial he will be fined a large amount for each of the 34 convictions. And to deter his continued availability to profit from his behavior that endangers the wellbeing of trial participants (judge, jury, clerk, witnesses) he will be sentenced to jail for 60 to 90 days. This sentencing will cause his lawyers to appeal immediately to the Supreme Court on the grounds that jailing him would interfere with his campaigning ability. SCOTUS will grant a stay of the jail time on the condition that a more stringent gag order must be respected. He will not be allowed to refer to the trial in any way. Failure to comply will result in immediate imprisonment. WHAT I’M PREDICTING IS A COMMON SENSE OPINION ON WHAT SHOULD HAPPEN. ANYTHING LESS THAN THIS SENTENCE WILL BE A SERIOUS FAILURE OF PRUDENT JUDICIAL PROCEDURE AND SET A VERY DANGEROUS PRECEDENT GOING FORWARD.
