If you’re a faithful reader of this blog you know that we report on phony news stories that Gannett and others print to mislead, degrade or simply lie to the American public. We offer the following recent stories as relevant examples:
- HEADLINE (Cincinnati Enquirer on 6/3/2024): STRUGGLING DOW TRANSPORT STOCKS MAY BE WARNING SIGN Actually, the Dow Transport Index is up over 14% since October, 2023.
- HEADLINE (Cincinnati Enquirer on 6/1/2024): RATE CONCERNS, HIGHER BOND YIELDS HIT STOCKS Actually, this story was published the day after the Dow-Jones index climbed 560 points in a single day.
- HEADLINE (Cincinnati Enquirer on 6/1/2024): INFLATION UP MODERATELY; CONSUMER SPENDING SLOWS Actually, inflation “surged” about .1%. As of May, inflation is nearing the 2% “FED” target level. And, in a companion article, the journalist complained that consumers are spending more than they’re saving. That same “companion article” admitted that inflation had fallen sharply.
- HEADLINE: (Cincinnati Enquirer on 5/26/2024): BIDEN TAUNTS DESIGNED TO TRIGGER TRUMP After all the ravings and rantings from the mouth of the “big orange” guy that have never been mentioned, the media has the unabashed gall to opine that Biden is the instigator of less-than-professional language when referring to his opponent. Anyone who has ever heard the Trump name calling tirades knows how this childish accusation smells.
- HEADLINE: (Cincinnati Enquirer on 5/29/2024: US CONSUMER CONFIDENCE RECOVERS BUT RECESSION MAY STILL LIE AHEAD SOME BELIEVE Even the media couldn’t accept all the incredibly positive economic news without hinting that we need to worry about the future. This story details all the positive numbers put up by the thriving economy but the headline (most people read only the headline) plants the seed of doubt–totally without evidence. This is a continuation of the recession story that didn’t happen in 2023 or 2024 and is now off the table entirely. BTW, we at “anothersview” predicted recession would not occur.
We could have provided many other examples but you see our point. These misleading headlines are designed to criticize the Biden economy, pump up the Trump promises and always plant the seed of doubt. DON’T BE FOOLED.
