As usual the NCAA basketball tournaments (AKA “March Madness) were exciting with a generous amount of surprises along the way. Congrats to UCONN for the men’s championship winners and South Carolina for the women’s championship winners. What always amazes us is the seeding process and its predictability value. Supposedly the favorites are given the #1, 2, 3, etc. seedings but the experts are frequently wrong and that all adds to the enjoyment when an upset occurs. FYI, the men’s teams were much more “predictable” than the women’s. In the men’s games, only 6 of the 62 games were considered upsets according to the seeding of the teams. But in the women’s games, 18 of the games were considered upsets. Another interesting fact: the men’s player of the year, Zach Edey of Purdue, and Caitlin Clark of Iowa, played in the final championship game and lost. We guess that why basketball s a team sport. Even the best players cannot do it all.
