“With God all things are possible”…the State motto of Ohio. See if they’re living up to that standard when you read the following. THESE ARE ALL FACTS. FEEL FREE TO CHECK THEM OUT YOURSELF.

  • It has been reported that Governor DeWine (pronounced Da- weeny) took 19 members of his family to last years Super Bowl. Unfortunately he has been accused of using taxpayer money to pay for the $6,000 junket. After the news broke his denial was adamant. Then someone referred the matter to the GOP-dominated Ohio Supreme Court. They ruled that it was OK for the Governor to hide the source of the funding for the trip. A local Ohio editor (working for a media partner of Fox News) wrote an editorial severely criticizing the court and demanding full disclosure. That didn’t happen and the matter was closed.
  • Last year the GOP Speaker of the Ohio House, Paul Householder, was sentenced to a lengthy term of imprisonment for his role in the bribery scheme surrounding the First Energy Corporation. Last week three additional people were charged in the same case, two were businessmen from First Energy and one was another GOP personage. Millions of dollars were involved. The real shock is that a GOP-dominated legislature was unable or unwilling to defend these individuals. Apparently the evidence was so compelling that even with their thumbs on the scales of justice they couldn’t avoid the matter. We’re assuming the Ohio Supreme Court wanted no part of this. Otherwise the outcome would surely be different.
  • And today it was revealed that the GOP-dominated Supreme Court has allowed a convicted felon to put his name back into nomination–overturning the existing Ohio law that disallows anyone convicted of a felony from running for political office. The attorney defending the felon was planning to use the argument that the case was sealed and not generally available to the public so it would be OK to sneak his client back into the legislature. But the Ohio Supreme Court said, in effect, Oh don’t bother–it’s ok we’ll just let him change our rules”.

We don’t know if “with God all things are possible” but it sure seems that with the GOP-dominated Ohio Supreme Court they are. We wonder if anyone in Columbus knows the state motto. It looks like another set of cases that display GOP hypocrisy. What do you think?
