While we’re on the subject of abortion let’s display the nightmare created by the Texas legislature in the name of winning pro-life votes. Texas law now says that a detected heart beat that is terminated is adequate to criminalize abortion–regardless of the mother’s health, rape, incest or fetal condition. Penalties are both civil and criminal for breaking the abortion law. ANY individual who becomes aware of an attempt or plan to abort may sue regardless of the circumstances surrounding the pregnancy. So a rapist may sue to have his victim continue to carry and deliver a child and then completely abandon any responsibility for the raising and care of that child after birth. (Also, there is no mention that the “father” has any financial responsibility for the health care of the expectant mother.)The state government does not enforce this law–it is left up to individual District Attorneys. This ploy was set up to avoid any court (Appellate/Supreme Court) from overruling its constitutionality. As a result some parts of Texas have indicated they will not enforce the law. Most notably, the District Attorneys of Dallas, Austin (the Texas State Capital) and San Antonio (name after St. Anthony) will not enforce the abortion law. The pregnant woman will not be subject to penalties for getting an abortion BUT anyone who assists in ANY way may be fined or imprisoned in a big way, $100,000 and/or 5 to 99 years in the klink. It was once said that there are two things you never want to watch being made, sausages and laws. Our guess is that the Texas legislature is housed in a renovated Oscar Meyer wiener plant and the stench never wore off. It is expected that birth control pills and devices may be next on the elimination list as the Supreme Court considers mifepristone as a “dangerous” drug. This review was was the result of a Texas legal matter. If all such birth control methods are outlawed–maybe the next step will be to criminalize sexual intercourse. After all that’s really the cause of the uproar. We predict that–if that happens–they’ll need a lot more buses to transport more than just immigrants out of Texas. One last thought: as Texas forces more kids to be born it should be noted that Texas has the highest percentage of food insecurity in the country and is turning down the FREE SUMMER FOOD PROGRAM offered by the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION. Maybe “nightmare” wasn’t a strong enough term?????
