If there was any doubt in your mind that Trump has destroyed the Republican Party, consider this recent list of GOP Congressional activities:

  • Marjorie Taylor Greene has tried to amend a pending bill so that the annual salary of Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg is reduced to one dollar.
  • While a Federal Government shutdown is only 8 days away, Marco Rubio is focused squarely on the really important issue of the day–whether to abolish Daylight Savings Time.
  • Senator Tommy Tuberville is steadfastly blocking over 300 in-grade military promotions thereby stifling staff changes in every branch of our military during two combat engagements. His reasoning is based on the abortion access of women in the military to travel to states where abortion access has been preserved. In other words, Tuberville is willing to jeopardize our military readiness during wartime on abortion access.

The November ballot also provided some interesting and disturbing results. Maybe these are examples of voter “pettiness”.

  • In Kentucky, the abortion issue all but guaranteed Andy Beshear–a Democrat–re-election. He won by a 5-6% margin. But the voters then overwhelmingly elected GOP candidates to fill every other cabinet post. Did these voters not see the lunacy of supporting a Dem for Governor because he FAVORED abortion access WHILE AT THE SAME TIME ELECTING REPUBLICANS WHO CONSISTENTLY OPPOSE ABORTION ACCESS?
  • In Ohio, 18 counties who voted for Trump in 2020, voted in Issue #1 that guaranteed access to abortion. So they seem to support a presidential candidate who opposes abortion WHILE VOTING IN ACCESS TO ABORTION.

Our “take” on these contradictions is that the average voter does not think their voting logic all the way through. How can anyone support abortion while electing people who oppose abortion? Go figure.
