With apologies to school-age kids everywhere, August is Happiness Month. Specifically, August 8th is “Happiness Day”. The happiness movement was started in 1998 by a group calling itself “The Secret Society of Happy People”. In 2000, a secret society decided to publicize the happiness factor with a global communique. We thought you might want to know some stuff about August:
- THIS YEAR AUGUST HAS TWO FULL MOONS AND THEY ARE BOTH SUPERMOONS. (THE SECOND MOON IS ALSO KNOWN AS A “BLUE MOON”).
- THE FULL STURGEON MOON (so called because its light made catching sturgeons easier) REACHES ITS PEAK ON AUGUST 1.
- THE STURGEO SUPERMOON PEAKS ON AUGUST 30th.
- THESE ARE SPECIAL DAYS IN AUGUST:
1st TO THE 7TH: INTERNATIONAL CLOWN WEEK
AUGUST 3: NATIONAL WATERMELON DAY
AUGUST 8: NATIONAL SNEAK SOME ZUCCHINI ONTO YOUR NEIGHBOR’S PORCH DAY
AUGUST 10: NATIONAL S’MORES DAY
AUGUST 12: VINYL RECORD DAY
AUGUST 13: INTERNATIONAL LEFT-HANDERS DAY
AUGUST 20: INTERNATIONAL GEOCACHING DAY (whatever that is)
AUGUST 20: WORLD HONEYBEE DAY
AUGUST 25: KISS-AND-MAKE-UP DAY
So, in the words of a famous philosopher, “don’t worry, be happy”. Remember, it takes fewer muscles to smile than it does to frown so save your strength.
