The fair-haired boy, Elon Musk, again buys his way out of jail. A jury recently decided that despite evidence to the contrary Mr. Musk did not manipulate the stock market when he threatened to take Tesla private. Sure, he stated that he had secured the necessary financing–but the reported financier denied any such actual commitment. And yes, he did sell a quantity of stock at the resulting higher price–after his faulty announcement. But. like all intelligent connivers, he managed to dissuade a jury of his peers that he should be acquitted. You be the judge…in this day and age where money and influence rule the day, is a precedent-setting decision like this a sign of American justice? Or is it just a another pavement stone on the road to the destruction of ethical standards?
