The COVID era converted many of us to a “survivalist” mentality. We bought a home standby generator. Our generator assures us that in times of emergencies we will have all the power we need to stay warm, preserve food, operate essential appliances and even share with our neighbors–as needed. All these positives can be “short-circuited” (pun intended) if the generator doesn’t work properly. Our advice: follow annual maintenance checks and always review the terms of your warranty. Peace of mind–like everything else–has a price. It’s much cheaper to pay the annual check-up service fee than to discover the generator doesn’t work when you have a refrigerator full of food.
