We hope to show with these two situations how Trump is getting special treatment for his actions.
First, let’s look at the recent Tax conviction for the Trump Group. Guilty on all 17 charges with Trump’s initials or signature on many relevant documents. His organization’s penalty: a $1.7 million fine. Peanuts. Now let’s consider that HE is guilty of authorizing the events that produced 17 fraudulent tax actions. We have the evidence to show that right now. In 1931 Al Capone was convicted of tax fraud and sentenced to 11 years imprisonment. His fine was $265,000. We doubt seriously that Al signed any documents but was implicated by his accountants. Laying these two cases side-by-side, do you think Trump should be prosecuted further?
Second, the Uvalde massacre on May 24 was a horrific event. The City of Uvalde has just sued the local District Attorney for failure to provide information regarding the actions of the 400 law enforcement officers who were present on that terrible day. At this point it appears that the DA is protecting the officers who seemed to have stood by and let it happen without any intervention. Now, recall January 6th. Trump watched the Capitol destroyed, people hurt and the chant “hang Mike Pence” for 187 minutes and did nothing. If the City of Uvalde can sue to get their information, why didn’t the January 6th Committee sue to have Trump appear, provide answers and explain to the American people why he took no action?
These are two parallel cases that should evoke a bit of ire in most people. Tax fraud is unacceptable for the average citizen. Should it not be more serious for a former president? And riotous mayhem can be reined in IF the assigned authorities show competence and courage to do their job. Until full punishment is meted out TRUMP IS ABOVE THE LAW–NO MATTER WHO SAYS DIFFERENTLY.
