These comments are aimed at people who are able to control their weight but knowingly choose not to follow sensible diets and exercise plans. Others have weight issues that are illness-physical condition-hereditary-temporary health/medication problems. These comments are not aimed at them. A recent “medical science” study suggests that carrying extra weigh is OK. That is pure BS. Common sense tells us that excess pounds damage all parts of the body and cause them to wear out quicker. End of story. But it appears that–since we have lost the body mass index battle–let’s just change the rules. It’s OK to weigh a lot more than we thought because we can’t correct the problem…the old “if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em” syndrome. Enabling overweight people is criminal because it tells them that they can gain all the weight they want to gain without endangering their health and shortening their lives. WRONG!!! A long time ago a physician stated “Take the best care of the only body you have when you’re young because as you age and you encounter health issues you give us more options to treat those conditions….and every older person will encounter health conditions.” As a final thought, condoning obesity and the health problems it causes will eliminate ANY chance to enact a national health plan in this country. We simply can’t afford all the costs associated with obesity.
