Last week the Biden Administration announced a 40 MPG standard for all US-produced autos by 2030. At roughly the same time the Federal Government allowed the US Postal Service $6.5 billion truck replacement contract go to a company that does not have an electric vehicle. These trucks represent nearly 65% of ALL Federal vehicles. Never mind the pollution implications–simply consider the mileage issue, the absence of drone deliveries that could have been included and the incredible gasoline cost savings that would have helped the financially troubled agency. It is impossible to listen to a government that “talks the talk” but visibly fails to “walk the walk”. And how do you see General Motors, Ford and others complying with a standard that the government does not take seriously?
