Our Founding Fathers attempted to create a national voting process whereby each state would be able to cast votes in national elections based on their proportionate population. And the Electoral College was born of that concept. The clear intent was to allow states to “voice their vote” through their citizens. Now we have “the big lie” era where Republicans are shifting the basis for vote counting in ways that may block specific groups of eligible voters from exercising their Constitutional rights. The GOP feels this will add to the security and accuracy of the vote count. But they go further by creating a process where GOP Officials in the state may–at their own discretion–disallow properly cast votes from eligible voters during and after the polls are closed. All these changes are occurring after 55 state courts lawsuits, numerous Secretaries of State and multiple in-state re-counts proved that the 2020 Presidential election was the most secure and accurate election EVER. ENOUGH!!!!
By 2024—unless sanity prevails–there will be nearly 50 different voting systems in place for the national election. Depending on your demographic (age, race, location, social status, vacation plans, etc.) your vote may be cast and accepted, cast and not accepted or not cast because you couldn’t qualify under the revised voting laws in your state. Does anyone think this is fair, consistent, reasonable, in keeping with the original Founding Fathers plan, or within the basic Constitutional guidelines we try to uphold? Of course not!!! None of these standards are respected so we have a suggestion.
Make all national elections conform to exactly the same voting laws. Absentee ballots, mail-in ballots, the number and locations of polling places, ballot forms and all other related election materials MUST BE THE SAME. Any state whose government refuses to accept uniformity will not be counted and the opposing party will be automatically awarded their electoral votes. Example: If South Carolina (A Red state) refuses to comply, its electoral votes are awarded to the Democratic candidates on the national ticket. While this suggestion may appear severe the only way we can be assured of fairness is the consistency of voter counts in ALL states. CASE CLOSED.
