Now that the Gaetz sex scandal is on everyone’s radar it is clear why the Republicans failed to jump on the anti-Cuomo abuse wagon from day 1. Sort of like “let ye among you who is without sin cast the first stone”. Or, in this case, “better not rattle the Cuomo cage because we too have some things to hide”. Now that several prominent Republicans have abandoned Gaetz very quietly it appears that the Cuomo matter is just not as important. Maybe a trade-off is in the works. The GOP won’t harass Cuomo and the Dems won’t chase Gaetz. And maybe that’s because each party has several members whose personal conduct could be damaging. The only reason NOT to pursue this line of investigation is the fear by each party that they may have MORE cases of inappropriate behavior than the other party. We guess that’s some form of compromise and is a sign of common ground…and as we all know, common ground is a rare earth commodity these days. This may produce a shaky truce temporarily but may also result in further distasteful revelations down the road. Stay tuned…
