Ok, that’s a pretty simple question–right? Wrong!!! how did human life begin on earth? Are you religious? If so, you may believe in Genesis. The Bible book says we all came from Adam and Eve. Well, if so, that would mean we are all descendants of the murderous brother Cain. Believing Genesis also requires that you figure out where Cain found a nice girl to marry —where did she come from? And then how did their children pro-create without incest? You can see that Genesis presents the need for a ton of faith and a lot of unpleasant conclusions.

So let’s turn to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. That’s the popular theory these days so let’s look closely. According to Evolution, a single cell creature crawled up on a beach and, millions of years later, turned into the human form. Questions: where did this single cell originate? how did it know to crawl out of water and onto a beach? what caused it to increase in size over the years? how did it survive during all that time? and how did we end up with male and female creatures? how did that difference come about?

OK, maybe neither of those explanations works. So we want to throw out another “theory” and dare you to prove it wrong. Many years ago (we don’t know how many) aliens from another planet decided to establish a laboratory where they could study behaviors. Their goal was and is to learn how various biological species react in various situations. So they found this empty planet (earth) and fashioned male and female counterparts to play the game and measure responses. Maybe this whole process is really just a recreational (pun intended) effort on their part. They have instilled enough character failures in all of us to produce billions of sets of circumstances and then have just watched us deal with wars, pandemics, bigotry, famines, etc. Imagine the distractions we have provided and still provide to those alien beings.

Are we crazy? OK, prove it. Start by trying to convince yourself that Genesis or Evolution is the right answer. See how you factually deal with those concepts. And, when you fail to prove even to yourself that either is correct, then weigh in on the “alien theory”. Ask yourself “which alternative theory is most the most plausible answer?”

Bottom line: No matter where we came from, isn’t it much more important to plan for where we are going? Regardless of how we got here the key is to promote progress among the world’s peoples so we get the most out of life—wherever it came from. It is within our power to rise above the failures of our nature and build a better world—even if only in a giant laboratory. This is the world we were dealt. Keep the dealer happy. Let’s together focus on each other’s needs. Maybe that’s the real “endgame”.
